McKay Madsen, a sophomore at Clovis North High in California, advanced to the finals of both the boys discus throw and shot put at the CIF State Championships with his performances in the prelims at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Madsen produced a discus mark of 186-2 (56.74m) and achieved a shot put effort of 58-2 (17.73m).
