McKay Madsen, a junior at Clovis North High in California, won the boys discus throw with a state-leading 196-2 (59.79m), ascending to No. 2 in the country this season at the Gateway to Track and Field Invitational at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High in Clovis, Calif. Madsen, who elevated to the No. 6 junior in the discus all-time in California, also placed second in the shot put with a mark of 58-2.50 (17.74m) for the Broncos.
